8 june 2012, 9pm local time
kappelskär-andenes – 1700km – done in 20 hours with fuel stops combined with eating, pooping and peeing started 10am on thursday 7th june, arrived to andenes around 6am 8th june, got room in hotel andrikken and immediately fell asleep..
why such a long drive.. something like 200-300km before kiruna, around 9pm, it started raining really heavily, so we abandoned idea of sleeping in tent and went on to find some hotel in kiruna.. arrived there about midnight, and all hotels except one were already “closed” (yes, you call them and try to book room and they tell you they’re closed and don’t give a flying fuck about your sleeping problems:)) or full. in the one that wasn’t closed they asked 210€ per night, so we decided to move on…
a bit before sweden-norway border stopped for flight. as it was -1 (minus 1) degree celsius there, flight was really short :)
hour or so later did one more short flight over tiny waterfall, and that was it for first day. polar day, to be precise :)
tomorrow – whale safari. unfortunately wind is so strong and boat is so small, that there’s no point in taking any copter with me.. nevertheless, i’m doing some preparations for next day, let’s hope weather will be a bit calmer
aaaaand, like many pages, this one never got updated :)
different reasons – to name most important ones, a) lack of internet, and when i had internet b) i didn’t have time (charging batteries for heli, cameras and laptops, making sure all sd-cards are emptied, cleaning cameras, setting up tents, packing tents etc etc – it all takes incredible amount of time)
however, something like an update can be read here – story how we made an aerial photo of preikestolen. also it might be i will add more “stories” later, but i really woudn’t count on it :)
